Kids of Steel/ Dinner at Ocean Prime in Troy with the Glen & Kim

Yesterday Saturday August 15 both Erika and Aleksei competed in the Kids of Steel in Tecumseh.  Aleksei finished 6th overall but he came out of the pool fine but when he ran to me he was going to end up on the wrong side of a fence so a volunteer told to go the other way.  He immediately stopped and started crying.  I got him to run to transition and bike and then run but he cried the whole way and did not bike or run nearly as fast as he could.  Erika won her heat and finished 14th (I believe, I will update when I see the official results online).  I believe she was about 14 seconds out of first.  The top 3 girls (her friends) were all in the same heat and had she been in there who knows.  Also the swim was suppose to be a 25m swim but they only swam a width.  The girlsin 2nd, 3rd and her self would of killed the swim as they are on the same swim team.  Oh well she was very happy with her heat win and so were we.  Results can be found by clicking here.

Funny story about the Aleksei's bike.  I inflated both of Erika's tires on Friday night as they were low.  I pumped up Aleksei's front tire and as I was pulling the inflator off the stem blew.  It was like 8:50 so I knew I could not patch the tube and would need a new tube.  I flew over to Crappy Tire and on the way I saw Steve Gombai working on bikes in his garage (he is the father of two girls in Erika's age group).  I realized I was going to be late for Crappy Tire so I pulled in and told him what happened.  He laughed as he did the same thing.  He told me there was no tubes that size at Crappy Tire or Wally Mart.  However his youngest daughter had the same size tire and I could borrow that bike.  Yeah.  I brought it home and was going to switch tires.  No luck as her axle was longer as her bike had shocks.  No problemo.  I would remove a nut on each side and that should do the trick.  No luck as the axle's diameter was wider.  Oh well Aleksei would have to drive a pink bike.  The next morning he was cool with that as it had shocks on it.  Lol.

That evening Mommy and Tata went to dinner at Ocean Prime in Troy to celebrate Glen and Kim Hays's 15th anniversary.  Later we went for drinks in Birmingham.  At the first bar Soph bumps into her cousin Dee Dee who lives in Ottawa.  Small world.  Also Larry Murphy, former Red Wing was also in there.
